Split PDF: Extract and Separate Pages

Upload a PDF and enter the page range you need. Only those pages are saved as a new PDF. You can also make one file per range, split out every page on its own, or split every N pages.

📄 Drag and drop the PDF to split here, or click to choose a file Your file is processed only on your device

Split mode

Separate ranges with commas. "7-" means page 7 to the end, and "-3" means the first page through page 3.

How to use the Split PDF

  1. Choose the PDF you want to split. The tool shows its total page count.
  2. Pick a split mode. To get only the pages you need in a single file, choose "Extract range."
  3. Enter a page range such as 1-3, 5. If you chose "Every N pages," enter the number of pages per file instead. A preview below shows how many files will be created.
  4. Click Split and save. A single result downloads as a PDF. Multiple results download together as one ZIP file.

Four ways to split a PDF

ModeExample inputResult
Extract range1-3, 5One PDF with pages 1, 2, 3 and 5
One file per range1-3, 4-6Two PDFs, one with pages 1–3 and one with pages 4–6 (ZIP)
Every page separatelyNo input neededOne PDF per page (ZIP)
Every N pages10PDFs of 10 pages each (ZIP)

In Extract range mode, pages appear in the order you type them. If you enter 5, 1-3, page 5 comes first, so you can also use this mode to reorder pages.

Ranges can be open-ended. 7- means page 7 through the last page, and -3 means the first page through page 3.

When you need to save only certain pages of a PDF

  • Submitting documents: When a landlord, employer, school or government office asks for only part of a longer document, such as one page of a bank statement or a single page of a transcript, extract just those pages and send them.
  • Reducing file size: Keeping only the pages you need makes the file much smaller. If it still has to be smaller, use Compress PDF as well.
  • Breaking up large files: Split a textbook or manual with hundreds of pages by chapter, or into 50-page chunks, so it's easier to read on a phone or to email under attachment size limits.
  • Separating batch scans: If several documents were scanned into one PDF, split it into single pages, then combine only the ones you need with Merge PDF.

Quality and content of split PDFs

This tool doesn't redraw your pages. It copies the original pages exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, and image quality and page size match the original. However, bookmarks (the outline) and fillable form fields may not carry over to the new files.

When the split creates several files, your browser saves them as one ZIP file instead of downloading each file separately. Open the ZIP in Windows, macOS, or your phone's Files app to get each PDF. Each file name combines the original name with its page range, for example report_p1-3.pdf.

Privacy: your file stays on your device

The whole split happens in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded to a server, so it's safe to use with personal or confidential documents such as tax forms, contracts, or medical records. You don't need to sign up or install anything.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF into single pages?
Choose "Every page separately" as the split mode and click Split and save. Each page becomes its own PDF, and they're all saved together in one ZIP file.
Can I change the page order?
Yes. In Extract range mode, type the pages in the order you want. For example, entering "3, 1, 2" creates a PDF with page 3 first, then page 1, then page 2.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Encrypted PDFs can't be opened by this tool. Open the file in a PDF viewer with its password, use "Print to PDF" (or "Save as PDF") to make an unprotected copy, and split that copy instead.
How do I open the ZIP file on my phone?
On Android, tap the ZIP in the Files app (such as Files by Google or My Files) and choose to extract it. On iPhone, tap the ZIP in the Files app and it unpacks into a folder with the same name.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.
Will splitting reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. The original pages are copied without any changes, so text, images, and page size stay exactly the same. Only bookmarks and form fields may be lost.
